Ministry to the Elderly and Vulnerable

Charis works in relationship with local village leaders to meet the needs of the most vulnerable. We provide monthly food kits for widows, orphans, the disabled and sick and families in need. We build basic homes for the homeless, provide medicines for the sick, clothes and blankets and school uniforms to help vulnerable children go to school. 

Bible in the villages

Our bible teacher Bento who trained alongside Mel now goes into the villages on his motorbike to teach the poor and vulnerable about true faith in Jesus. 

Discipleship to a new generation

In 2020 the team started a twice weekly discipleship group. The vision is to disciple young, people alongside Music/Worship training.

“Transformed to be transformers!” Charis’ vision is to build a multi-purpose building at our Centre which will facilitate discipleship and life-skills activities, a kids homework club, bible/mission training and so much more!

Kids Club

In 2015 Mel and Mandy responded to the needs of 15 street kids and started a weekly Kids Club at the Vilanculos Centre providing them with a safe place to shower, wash clothes, eat, receive medical attention as well as fun and learning about the love of Jesus. The team worked hard to help the kids return to families. The Kids Club was so successful we invited other children from vulnerable families and it continues and thrives today. The team also take the club into different villages – ‘kids club on the move’.
